Rix is no longer the leader of ASLEF by the way. Secretlondon 23:06, Feb 11, 2004 (UTC)

nor is Gilchrist head of the FBU. -- Arwel 00:04, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

This article: 1) doesn't cite any sources; and 2) phrases things in ways that would be inappropriate even if sources were cited (makes controversial claims directly through the article's voice, rather than attributing them and mentioning that they're controversial). In particular, the claims that New Labour doesn't stand up for workers' interests, and that New Labour is a continuation of Thatcherism, are both disputed, not least by New Labourites themselves. --Delirium 15:15, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't know anyone who honestly believes New Labour "stands up for workers' interests" -- New Labour types tend to be proven liars, so you won't find out what they believe by asking them. So, to judge people on their actions -- New Labour has not defended workers' rights, and the Labour party has never supported a strike when it has been in power; Private Finance Initiatives are pretty Thatcherite and New LAbour has not halted let alone reversed the wave of privatisations that took place under Tory rule; despite criticising the anti-union laws in opposition, it has not repealed them and does not support the campaign for a Trade Union Freedom Bill. Alan Johnson has said that some trade union leaders are from planet Zog (no, really he did!), Blair has said that there is no longer any conflict of interest between workers and employers (seriously, he said this!), and sought support from Rupert Murdoch who is fiercely anti-worker. The Party is now funded by millionaire businessmen -- he who pays the piper calls the tune, as the saying goes.
Yes, yes, but Delirium's point is that articles must always be presented from a neutral point of view and so should not say those types of things in an authorative voice - even if they are true. I've made some minor changes to rectify that, and I've removed the neutrality dispute notice. GrahamN 16:47, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
